Our Story

A friend’s request for a chocolate wedding cake in 1994 provided the seed that grew into The Glory Box. Highly trained and experienced pastry chef Peter Smedley, recognized the gap in the market for professional and modern, wedding and celebration cakes. The Glory Box was established in 1998, with Peter creating the cakes and training apprentices, and his partner Marlene, taking responsibility for the administration of the business.

In the 21 years since, The Glory Box has become synonymous with market-leading, bespoke, wedding cakes, and also with supplying high quality cakes to cafes and restaurants across Perth.

The Glory Box – Cakes – Bakery – Patisserie, is passionate about creating a neighbourhood hub, specialising in hand formed sourdough bread, and delicious small batch cakes, tarts, desserts and sweets, all made from scratch, and utilising seasonal produce whenever possible.

Bread

We produce a range of hand-formed sourdough bread baked daily. Our range includes loaves, flat bread, baguettes and fruit bread. Loaf varieties available daily (until sold out) are white, organic wholemeal, 5-seed, rye & caraway, rosemary & olive, spiced fruit bread, and fig & fennel.

Tarts

We bake a variety of classic and seasonal tarts in individual, small and large sizes including our famous Portuguese custard tarts.

Traditional Portuguese tarts are baked daily, with passionfruit, raspberry or lemon available on weekends or by advance order.

Our most popular tarts include: Lime, Rhubarb & Raspberry, Chocolate, Vanilla brulée, and Strawberry mascarpone.

Cafe Cakes

We have an extensive range including individual portion desserts, small and large cakes, specialty desserts, layered gateaux, mousse cakes, brownies, slices, & high tea cakes.

Seasonal cakes

We have a wide range of seasonal cakes ranging from our Christmas assortments to seasonal fruit tarts.

Special Occasion Cakes

Available in all sizes, our cafe cakes can be ordered to add the finishing touch to any celebration! We can do anything from Mother's Day to Birthdays, Anniversaries, and Christenings.

Bespoke Cakes

Made to order special occasion cakes for your bigger events. Anything from Weddings, Holy Communions and Engagement Parties, to 21st Birthdays, and Bachelorette Parties.

Pastries

Freshly baked light and fluffy pastries can be found here everyday. These are some of our most popular sweet treats, so make sure to come visit us early to have your pick of the bunch!
Made daily by our talented pastry-chefs. We have delicious melt-in-the-mouth butter croissants, Danish pastries, glazed fruit buns, almond croissants, Baklava, & our very own invention: The Scruffin - a delicious cinnamon scroll, baked in a muffin tin, & glazed with butterscotch sauce & toasted pecans.

Savoury

To go along with our delicious sweet treats we have begun to widen our savoury range. We currently have Reuben, vegetarian, and vegan toasties made fresh on site with our sourdough loaves, available daily. As well as chicken & vegetable party pies, and spinach, pea, & mint mini quiches; available to take home and heat up or to have warmed and enjoy right away.

Coffee

Fancy a coffee with your morning bread or afternoon treats? We've got you covered! Bring along your reusable keep cup, or borrow one of our 'boomerang' cups, and helps us in doing our part for the environment!

Preorder Details

Cafe Cake Orders – Minimum of 1 day prior

Specialty Cafe Cake Orders (Cafe Cakes Simply Decorated For Special Event) – Minimum of 2 days prior

Custom Cake Small – Minimum 1 week prior

Custom Bespoke Cake – Minimum 4 week prior

Special Event Bespoke Cake (ie. Wedding) – Initial inquiry 8-12 weeks prior – Order placed minimum 6 weeks prior

 

Wholesale and Orders

Bread & Portuguese tarts:
Must be ordered by 3pm the day before, orders greater than 12 pieces require a 50% deposit to be made

Standard cake range cakes:
Must be ordered by 3pm the day before, orders of more than one cake or for a weekend pick up require a 50% deposit to be made

Seasonal Cakes:
Include Mothers/Fathers Day, Valentines Day, Easter, Christmas. Must be ordered two weeks prior to date and require a 50% deposit to be made

Aged Christmas Fruit Cake:
Must be ordered 4-6 weeks prior to pick up, and requires a 50% deposit to be made

Bespoke Cakes:
Order must be placed 4-12 weeks prior to date. A $150 deposit is required, with balance paid one month prior to the event
